Breathing exercises for cigarette cravings

When you want a cigarette, your breathing often gets shallow and fast without you noticing. Slowing it down does not delete nicotine. It gives the peak something to do besides reach for a lighter. Hold90 puts a breathing ring inside a 90-second hold so you do not have to remember a technique from a video.

Follow the circle: inhale, hold, exhale

The Breathe game in Hold90 is a paced ring: inhale as it grows, a short hold, then exhale. You are not chasing a perfect ratio. You are occupying the 90 seconds. If counting 4-7-8 in your head helps, you can overlay that. If counting makes you tense, just follow the circle.

When breath is not enough, use your hands

Some cravings need motion. That is why Hold90 also has clear-the-haze swipes, tap-to-pop lights, a squeeze-and-release circle, a trace-the-bead path, and tap ripples. Switch whenever you want. The hold clock does not pause. The point is a body task that is not smoking.

  • Breathe — if you can watch a ring.
  • Swipe, pop, or ripple — if you need taps.
  • Squeeze or trace — if you need pressure or a path.

Practice before the worst wave

The first Hold 90 of a quit is easier if you have already opened the app once, set your why, and felt the timer. Install Hold90 to the home screen so the next craving is one tap, including offline after the first visit.

Questions

Is breathing enough to quit smoking?
Breathing is a way through a peak, not a complete cessation program. Combine it with a quit date you keep, slips you log, and any medical support you use.
What if focusing on breath makes me anxious?
Switch to a hand game. The 90 seconds keep going. You are allowed to not “do breathwork correctly.”

The next 90 seconds are enough
